A Lesson in Translation—in 5 Languages

This past year we had the opportunity to work with Gerber Technology creating a microsite which was an important component of a large product launch. The new Paragon® cutting platform was unveiled for the in September 2013 at the China International Sewing Machinery & Accessories (CISMA) show in Shanghai, China. In a nutshell, the microsite needed to be innovative, sleek, easy to use, meeting the latest web standards, and responsive to mobile & tablet screen sizes. While these requirements are standard with all websites we build, this special case presented a range of unique challenges.

Translation & Videos

Gerber Technology operates internationally in 130 countries and 5 languages. By far the biggest hurdle was creating a seamless experience that was matched across all the languages.
Because each translation can be very different in word count and character length, navigation and page titles were not fitting properly and creating layout issues.
The solution– we leveraged custom style sheets to treat each language differently.
