Ten for Ten in retrospect

A year ago we wrapped up our Ten for Ten program for non-profits with an open house here at the office. All the Ten for Ten participants gathered to view a gallery display of the websites, brand identities, templates, newsletters and stories we created to help their organizations.

We started Ten for Ten thinking we could be of service to our community. It turned out that we learned as much as we helped—if not more.

Ten Good Discoveries:

1. We were surprised to learn how many non-profits serve Waterloo Region. The majority serve the community in relative obscurity, dedicating thousands of hours to benefit the common good. Yet most of us know little about them or what they contribute. Some are large organizations, others are driven by one or two dedicated people.

2. We learned that local non-profits provide a vast range of services. Some train dogs that help autistic children, others foster
